My yoga journey

Move | Breathe | Feel

I have always been filled with a sense of adventure and a need to challenge myself which led me to discover yoga asana whilst travelling South East Asia. During my travels I spent a period of time living and working in a yoga centre where I was fortunate enough to practice meditation and yoga daily with some great teachers. I loved the freedom I was able to experience within my body and the way that the practice helped to calm my mind – which frequently felt like it had too many tabs open!

However, my journey into teaching followed a path of personal healing and transformation after experiencing burn out within a demanding and highly stressful career. This had a significant impact on my nervous system and I was forced to take stock and re-evaluate, which led to some pretty big changes – including leaving my career. Yoga was a significant part of my recovery as I was able to draw upon the wisdom of the body to re-align with my body’s physical, spiritual and emotional needs, which was key to my personal healing and transformation.

What followed was enrolment as a trainee yoga teacher at Bristol School of Yoga where I was fortunate enough to benefit from the experience and wisdom of some incredible teachers.  I now combine my knowledge and personal experience to facilitate yoga that holds space for self-enquiry; placing attention on the way that the body feels rather than the way it moves within a mindful practice that strengthens the body and calms the mind.
